AFRICAN ACCESS HOLDINGS TAKES THREE TOP HONOURS AT THE VAN RYN'S BBQ AWARDS
At a glittering Van Ryn's BBQ Awards held at the Emperor's Palace on Friday 15 October 2010, African Access Holdings was honoured with three prestigious accolades in front of an audience of South Africa's top business leaders, politicians, entrepreneurs, business commentators and media.
Group Chief Executive Officer, Mr Shaun Battlemann was named "Businessman of The Year" making him the "King of the Pack" for a second consecutive year. In 2009 Battlemann was awarded the "Top Black Entrepreneur of the Year" in the Metropolitan Oliver Awards.
As CEO of a diversified investment group, Shaun Battlemann harnesses the power of his strong business acumen and entrepreneurial flair to provide African Access with clear strategic direction and project delivery capability that is unrivalled. His astuteness and strategy has been the pulse of African Access's success and he's the brand's primary advocate and nurturer.
Speaking to the crew of Top Billing during the event, Battlemann said "While it's a great feeling to be recognized amongst my peers and the country for the hard work and dedication that has earned me this title, I know that these honours are merely a by-product of the continued dedication of the entire African Access family - not just to cultivate an ability to see opportunities for the Group and to make the deals that convert those opportunities into realities but to provide customer-centric operations and services both nationally and internationally"
Battlemann proved to be an outstanding winner against contenders, Kgosientso Ramokgopa, CEO of Joburg Market and Tommy Macmillian Makhatho, MD of Bibi Cash & Carry.
The group was also honoured with the Van Ryn's BBQ Corporate Social Investment Accolade and came up against two giant brands namely Anglo American's Khumba Iron Ore and Transnet Limited. Accepting the award on behalf of the African Access brand, Chairman, Mr Seth Phalatse said "This award acknowledges African Access's vision to uplift and empower the lives of all South Africans. We are extremely proud to be a brand that exhibits a strong heritage of socio-economic development initiatives, educational projects, community development, job creation and skills development"
Reverend Roy Govender, CSI Director for African Access Holdings went on to win the Community Builder of the Year Award. Reverend Govender who also takes care of the group's wellness & health - a position not many corporate companies hold, is a shining example of an individual who has made a significant impact in community development through innovation, creativity and integrity.
